We are a small Sporting Goods Retailer in rural Oregon.  Union, Oregon is a small town of 1,920 located between the Blue Mountains and the Wallowas in the eastern part of the state.  The Eagle Cap Wilderness is just a few miles away as the crow flies. 

Needless to say, we are right in the middle of some great hunting and fishing.  This is the kind of place where every sportsman wants to live, but few of us are lucky enough to be able to do it.  Of course, if you’re going to hunt in the mountains of Eastern Oregon, you have to raise a couple of mules to help get you and your gear back into your favorite hunting camp.  Thus, the name of our store.  We started out with Tinkerbell over three years ago (yes, our granddaughters named her), and just a year later, Princess Tiger Lilly was born.  Tinker is being trained for riding and packing, but we’re still trying to get Princess re-broke to the halter.  She really lives up to her name.  Both are far more spoiled than any of our kids ever were.

We are a husband and wife team.  Roger is the firearms expert in our crew.  I think he came out of the womb knowing about guns and hunting.  We’ve done very well with our business because Roger knows his guns and he is very honest and fair with our customers.  In return, they are very loyal to us.  It’s not about big profit margins and giant sales for us.  It’s all about loving what you do and seeing the same people come back again and again.  We have a young man who desperately wanted a particular rifle and spent all summer bringing in the money he made doing odd jobs to make payments while Roger kept it for him in the vault.  That’s just the kind of business people we are.  This is a family enterprise, so our daughter Adina – an incredible frontier woman, takes in taxidermy work from our customers and helps her Dad.  She also hunts and traps and makes her own wine. 

Roger is a life member of the NRA and a recruiter for NRA, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the NAHC.  I am a member of the NWTF Women of the Outdoors.  We support the Friends of the NRA banquet and the  NW Turkey Foundation Benefit Banquet every year. 

We decided to build a website so we could expand the inventory we have available for our local customers, and to expand our market.  We made arrangements with our wholesaler to put their entire catalogue on line and make guns and other hard to find in stock items available to our customers in real time inventory tracking.  If you go into our site and see a gun is in stock – it’s really there and will be held for only you as soon as you place your order.  Some items, like the Outdoor Edge knives or the collectible items are really in our store.  Those items will be carefully packed up by us and shipped out the next day.
